Purpose of this Companion Course
This companion course is designed to support EMDR clinicians participating in a certification consultation group by:
- Providing structure and pacing throughout the certification journey
- Reinforcing EMDR foundational and advanced concepts
- Supporting fidelity to the EMDR standard protocol
- Increasing confidence in case conceptualization and treatment planning
- Preparing consultees for EMDRIA Certification
- Encouraging reflective practice and professional growth
Course Format
Delivery Format: Live virtual consultation group
Group Size: 2 consultees
Frequency: Biweekly for 10 months
Duration: 60 minutes per meeting
Length of Program: 10–12 months
Consultation Structure: Case review, didactic teaching, fidelity review, skills development
Learning Methods: Lecture, role play, discussion, video review, reflective journaling
Recommended Materials: Nancy Lasater Handbook, Shapiro text, EMDRIA standards

Recommended Learning Outcomes
By the end of the companion course, participants will be able to:
1.Demonstrate fidelity to the standard 8-phase EMDR protocol
2.Apply the AIP model to case conceptualization
3.Identify appropriate clients for EMDR reprocessing
4.Utilize stabilization and resourcing interventions effectively
5.Conduct complete target sequencing and treatment planning
6.Recognize and respond appropriately to blocking beliefs and processing difficulties
7.Apply cognitive interweaves when clinically indicated
8.Recognize signs of dissociation and complex trauma
9.Integrate ethical, cultural, and relational considerations into EMDR therapy
10.Prepare and submit materials necessary for EMDRIA Certification
